BACKGROUND

Baidu sought to showcase its AI capabilities through a purpose-driven initiative—demonstrating corporate social responsibility while strengthening its brand affinity. The goal: prove that technology, when paired with empathy, can make a real difference.

IDEA

F5 uncovered a painful social reality—China is home to over 9 million people living with Alzheimer’s disease. Memory loss not only isolates patients but deeply affects their families as well.

In response, F5 partnered with Baidu and the NGO Alzheimer’s Disease China to develop a first-of-its-kind AI-powered wearable: smart glasses designed to assist early-stage Alzheimer’s patients in navigating daily life with greater confidence and dignity.

Powered by Baidu’s advanced facial recognition, speech recognition, and voiceprint technologies, the glasses help users identify loved ones in real time—restoring human connection that memory loss had threatened to erase.
